Elemental II
(September 2002)

reworked / rewritten from an older poem

I see white, I see bright
The air we breathe, the air we leave
The air is something that we share
It brings us life, whether calm or strife
It passes through our bodies
It passes the words we say to each other
It is everpresent and effervescent,
Just like my heart's thoughts of you,
Whispered to me by the wind.

I see red, but not anger or dread
Fire has transformed me
From what you see, to what could be
Bringing warmth and light and passion
Burning the old and kindling the new
Within the fire I see you
Look, and you will find me
Dance with me among the flames
Which lick at my feet and light my heart
Whose heat beats out your name.

I see cool, blue, new
Water, water everywhere
But can I take a drink?
Can I lead this horse to water?
Cleansing and purification
I'm ready to start anew
I want to start with you
Refreshment is here
Take the plunge with me
Find its freedom and buoyancy
A feeling very much like flying
The tides move with the Moon
Feel its healing, steady cycles
Washing away the pain and dirt
And shadows of the past
This time it will last.

I see verdant green
Earth is me, Water is you
Our signs, though different,
Are both of compatible nature
Sensitive, warm and true
My element is bountiful
Healing, strength, stability
We need these three
And from earth they come to be
Fertility and grounding too
And the foundation for all
We seek to create and build
What we sowed yesterday
Will forever with us stay
If we tend to what we planted
Join me as I walk the Earth
Both a part and apart of the forest,
Whose silent sentinels know
That we will be together.
