Five Haiku (Fall/Winter 1991)

Purple-tipped petals
Of the tiny white pansy
Moist with morning dew.

Slowly, slowly up
Crawls the spotted ladybug
To my fingertip.

Flickering bright flame
Of the sweet-smelling candle
Illumines the room.

The face of a rat:
Bright eyes, sniffing nose, whiskers
Twitching all the time.

Red, orange, yellow,
Green and blue and violet:
A rainbow's prism.
