You Are All I See
(Dec. 1997)
a song

In the light of day, you come my way,
Like a shadow cast from the sun.
You cool the heat beneath my aching feet,
Before the long day's done.

In the dark of night, my room is bright,
For in my mind, you're here.
In the Moon's soft glow, with you, I know
That there is naught to fear.

Every day, at work or play
I feel your touch on me.
Every night, when I turn out the light
You are all I see.

Like a desert bloom that bursts forth too soon,
I once thought I was undone.
Did I scare you away, or would you stay,
And prove to be the one?

Back you came, and much the same,
But with thoughts you hadn't known.
The potential is there, so now, with care,
We carve the unhewn stone.

Every day, at work or play
I feel your touch on me.
Every night, when I turn out the light
You are all I see.

Every day, at work or play
Do you know you're touching me?
And every night, when you turn out the light,
I wonder what you see.

I hope you might see me....
